What is ChangeTheFace?

In 2020, when Vodafone asked 8,000 people to imagine technology as a person, the overwhelming response was: young, white, middle-class and male.

That perception reflected a deeper reality: the technology industry still does not represent the diversity of the society it serves. Just one in five IT specialists are women, a figure that has barely shifted in a decade.

It was the spark that ignited the #ChangeTheFace Campaign and a call for the sector to move from intention to measurable action.

Now part of the GSMA, ChangeTheFace has evolved into an industry alliance with access to a global network of technology leaders, mobile network operators and startups. Together, the Alliance is helping organisations accelerate progress, scale what works and turn diversity, equity and inclusion into lasting business and industry impact.
