Talent Without Boundaries: Celebrating Vodafone Foundation’s Skills Upload Jr Winners

This September, Vodafone welcomed the winning team of the Skills Upload Jr Challenge from Greece to its headquarters in London, marking an exciting milestone in their journey from local innovators to European champions.

Among teams from across Europe, the students presented their winning concept, CALMify AI, a technology-enabled solution designed to help students manage study-related stress and support wellbeing. Their innovative idea demonstrated not only technical aptitude but also strong empathy and a commitment to using technology to solve real-world challenges.

The visit gave the team the opportunity to showcase CALMify AI to Vodafone leaders, including Joakim Reiter, Lisa Felton, and CTFA Board Member Gary Adey. The students shared the inspiration behind their concept, their development journey, and the lessons they learned while transforming an idea into an impactful solution.

The visit was a powerful demonstration of the purpose behind the Skills Upload Jr Challenge: empowering young people to move beyond being consumers of technology and become creators, innovators and problem-solvers. Through the programme, students are encouraged to apply digital skills to issues facing their communities, while building the confidence and capabilities needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Reflecting on the experience, CTFA Board Member Gary Adey said:

“I recently had the pleasure of meeting the international winners of the Vodafone Foundation’s Skills Upload Jr Challenge during their visit to London. The team from Greece impressed me with CALMify AI: an innovative solution designed to help students manage study stress and support wellbeing. Their creativity, empathy and problem-solving skills were a powerful reminder of why investing in young people’s digital skills matters. Congratulations to the winning team and everyone who made this opportunity possible.”

For the winning team, the journey from an island community in Greece to presenting their solution in London is a powerful reminder that talent and potential can be found everywhere. Geography and background are not barriers to innovation when young people are given the opportunity, support and skills to succeed.

The Skills Upload Jr Challenge continues to demonstrate how digital skills education can unlock potential and inspire the next generation of innovators, equipping young people with the confidence, creativity and technical capabilities to shape a better future.

Congratulations to the winning team, their teachers, mentors and everyone who supported their journey.
